A higher level of refinement is included with the restricted engine selection. The Yaris drives nicely at all engine speeds. Over 400 rpm might cause the engine to become fairly noisy.
To acquire enough power at high rpm, you have to push the transmission pretty hard, and downshifting may be necessary while overtaking another vehicle at a high speed.
