The Mercedes-Benz B-Class has a wheelbase of 2,699 mm and dimensions of 4,393 mm in length, 1,786 mm in width, and 1,557 mm in height. For the gasoline and diesel versions, respectively, the crossover’s kerb weight is 1,425 kg and 1,577 kg. With six litres set aside as reserve fuel, each engine has a 50-liter fuel tank capacity. 205/55 section tyres are mounted on 16-inch alloy wheels on all B-Class models.

Mercedes-Benz B-Class - Exterior

The Mercedes-Benz B Class is a small MPV hatchback that lacks the appeal of a typical Mercedes-Benz. To the Indian consumer, the Mercedes-Benz logo signifies a large luxury car. The car has a Mercedes-Benz R-class appearance thanks to the windshield and hood. It has a distinctive appearance thanks to the oversized grille bearing the Mercedes logo and the lower bumper with LED lights. B-Class looks sporty when viewed from the side. Compared to the standard variant, the sports version of the car has more attractive 18-inch rims.

Mercedes-Benz B-Class – Cabin and Practicality

Mercedes-Benz B-Class - Cabin and Practicality

The interior of the Mercedes-Benz B-Class is available in an all-black color scheme with silver accents on the center console’s AC vents and other switches. The center console’s dial can be used to control the infotainment system, which also supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Voice recognition, audio, and phone multifunction buttons are also on the steering. The height of the front seat is 1,047 mm, while the height of the back seat is 985 mm.

B class has a decent-sized boot space that can easily hold a couple of suitcases. The rear seats are very comfortable and have curves to give extra thigh support to the passengers. There is ample legroom in both the rear and front for the driver and passengers. The interiors of a B class offer the qualities of a Mercedes E class. The black-colored interiors with smart dashboard design give a sporty feel. The air conditioning vents are very well designed which is a concept taken from Mercedes-Benz SLS. The only odd thing about the interiors of this car is the command display screen embedded on the top of the dashboard that particularly looks like a tablet stuck at the top of the dashboard. Apart from this screen, everything else about the interior of the car is great.

Toyota Fortuner

Toyota Fortuner

Since its launch in India in 2009, the Toyota Fortuner has consistently ranked as the highest-selling vehicle in the full-size SUV segment. The Toyota Fortuner’s respectable qualities, including its commanding design, superb build quality, potent performance, and cosy interior, are largely responsible for its success. It is not surprising that the Fortuner has managed to stay among the top SUV options for Indian buyers all these years.

There are 9 different color options for the Toyota Fortuner, including Sparkling Black Crystal Shine, Phantom Brown, Super White, Attitude Black, Avant-Garde Bronze, Grey Metallic, White Pearl Crystal Shine, Silver Metallic, and White Pearl Crystal Shine with Black Roof.

Toyota Fortuner – Exterior

Toyota Fortuner - Exterior

The redesigned Fortuner’s front end features a larger, more imposing grille, sleek LED projector headlights, LED DRLs, a new front bumper, new fog lights, and other improvements. A modern design for the facelift version is created by these aesthetic changes. More importantly, these improvements set the facelift apart from the comparatively drab and out-of-date pre-facelift version.

Toyota Fortuner - Exterior

The side profile of the new Toyota Fortuner, which is getting a mid-life facelift, doesn’t get as much of an upgrade as the front face. The set of new 18-inch alloy wheels is the only noticeable side update. The wheels are made to look tough and modern.

The Toyota Fortuner features brand-new LED taillights on its back end. The split quad-LED headlights, contrast black roof, and rear Legender badge are exclusive to the Legender model.

Toyota Fortuner – Cabin and Practicality

Toyota Fortuner - Cabin and Practicality

The Toyota Fortuner’s seating arrangement has not changed. The Fortuner will have the same seating arrangement, which still provides plenty of room for each of the front row as well as the back row. The driver’s and co-seats driver’s in the SUV are now ventilated to increase passenger comfort. Particularly for Indian vehicle owners who frequently deal with oppressively hot and humid conditions, this characteristic offers a real treat.

Only minor interior design changes are made, but there are a few new items added to the equipment list. An electrically adjustable front seat, semi-digital instrument cluster, dual-zone automatic air conditioning, and a 4.2-inch MID were available on the pre-facelift model. The updated version now includes each of these features. In addition to these already present features, the facelift adds new ones like a larger 8-inch touchscreen infotainment with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, an 11-speaker JBL sound system, and front clearance sonar.

Toyota Fortuner – Safety Equipment

Toyota Fortuner - Safety Equipment

The Toyota Fortuner is equipped with seven airbags, a 360-degree camera view, a lane departure warning, a collision prevention system, and dynamic cruise control. The Fortuner facelift received a perfect score for safety in the most recent ASEAN NCAP test, which is worth noting. When it enters the Indian market, the Fortuner is anticipated to provide that level of protection.

Toyota Fortuner – Engine and Gearbox

Toyota Fortuner - Engine and Gearbox

The 2.7-liter turbo petrol and 2.8-liter turbo diesel engines that were available in the Toyota Fortuner before are still available. However, the 2.8-liter turbo diesel engine has been modified to produce more power. It can produce 206 BHP and 500 Nm of torque when paired with a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission, as opposed to 179 PS and 455 Nm in the version before the facelift. The torque figure drops to 420 Nm when paired with a six-speed manual transmission. With these power specifications, this engine is thought to be the best turbo-diesel in its class. It keeps providing a high level of refinement. The 6-speed manual transmission also provides a quick and smooth shift while driving.

While continuing to produce 166 PS and 245 Nm, the 2.7-liter gasoline engine is the opposite. Six-speed manual and six-speed torque converter automatic transmissions are the two options for transmissions that are available. The gasoline engine is a less common choice for Toyota Fortuner buyers than the diesel model. The refinement provided by this engine is still respectable. Although not the worst in the market, mid-range performance is still not the best.

BMW X3

BMW X3

With the X3, BMW is a part of the facelift trend. Being the third entry, it may have arrived a little bit later than the Volvo XC60 facelift and the Audi Q5 facelift, but it sure has come prepared. The X3 receives this mid-life update, which gives it the boost it needs to remain competitive in the fiercely competitive “midsize luxury SUV” market.

BMW X3 is available in 6 different colors – Phytonic Blue, Black Sapphire, Sophisto Grey Brilliant Effect, Mineral White, Brooklyn Grey, and Carbon Black.

BMW X3 – Exterior

BMW X3 - Exterior

A few noticeable changes to the exterior design make it stand out from the competition in addition to looking modern and funky. A new face with a larger grille greets you when you approach it from the front. It is still not as controversial as the enormous one on the X7, but it is a prominent feature of the fascia in its current brushed metal and single-piece avatar. When you pay closer attention, you will also see the “active air stream” that serves as a curtain inside the grille. It assists with airflow, lowers drag, and opens and closes in response to engine temperature.

BMW X3 - Exterior

Another option is the adaptive LED headlamps that receive “J-blades” for the Daytime Running Lamps, like the ones on the redesigned BMW 5 series. They now appear much more contemporary thanks to the sleeker, sharper headlamp housing. It comes with aggressive-looking bumpers with lots of angles and a distinctive piano black panel for the air dam in top-spec “M-sport” trim (like the one shown here), which enhances the sporty appeal. The lovely “Brooklyn Grey” paint color deserves special mention because it looks absolutely stunning, especially in M-sport attire. This shade is worth considering if you don’t mind being a little daring.

The length and wheelbase of the updated X3 have not changed because there have been no changes to its dimensions. But with this M-sport trim, you also get a sporty side skirt and a blacked-out window frame and roof rails.

The most prominent talking points in the rear are the taillamps. They are very attractive, especially in the dark, and sharp like the headlamps thanks to 3D modeling. The squared-off bumper and a blacked-out diffuser are the other M-specific features. Although they don’t significantly improve performance, they do look cool. The circular exhaust tips have been replaced with angular ones that have been chromed.

BMW X3 – Cabin and Practicality

BMW X3 - Cabin and Practicality

The new X3’s interior has undergone some noticeable changes, similar to those to the exterior. The 12.3-inch free-floating touchscreen in the center of the dashboard is a typical feature of contemporary BMWs. It is a significant improvement over the previous version due to its sharp HD resolution and fantastic responsiveness. Additionally, it has excellent 360-degree parking camera technology and gesture controls for a variety of multimedia commands, both of which are very helpful when driving on a daily basis.

The 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster is the next display option and, aside from some updated graphics, it is largely similar to the previous model. Even so, it lacks the virtual cockpit of Audi in terms of usability. The gear lever has rounded edges lower down, and buttons for the X3’s variety of features are moved to new locations. Along with an M-badge and leather upholstery, the M-sport version also features a sportier, chunkier three-spoke steering wheel. Important features like the panoramic sunroof, park assist, and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are all present and well, but if you want wireless charging, you’ll have to fork over a little extra money.

The back seat passengers won’t have much to complain about in terms of cabin space. The X3 offers plenty of head and leg room, and the seat back is at a comfortable angle. Neither too seated nor too upright. A 16-speaker Harman-Kardon audio system is included, as well as individual climate control, sunblinds, and a cocooning environment.

BMW X3 – Safety Equipment

BMW X3 - Safety Equipment

With a commendable 93% rating for adult occupant safety and an 84% rating for child occupant safety, the BMW X3 received a five-star Euro NCAP safety rating when it was first made available. The face-lifted X3 now has a more extensive set of safety features, including lane departure and lane change warnings, cross-traffic warnings, and front collision warnings with brake function. Despite the less-than-stellar Safety Assist score of 58%,

Although keyless entry, laser headlights, front and rear parking sensors, and a rearview camera are all available as options, advanced parking assistance is standard.

BMW X3 – Engine and Gearbox

BMW X3 - Engine and Gearbox

The powertrain hasn’t been changed because the updated X3 is more about cosmetic changes. Currently, it is only offered in the xDrive30i trim, which features the same 252 horsepower, 2.0-liter turbo-petrol engine as before. This engine is paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission that drives all four wheels through the xDrive AWD system. Although acceleration from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour (kph) takes only 6.6 seconds, a car like the X3 isn’t about outright performance. Refinement and comfort are given top priority because the target audience is one that favors luxury. As a result, the 2.0-liter engine is both incredibly smooth and refined and quick and fun.

For quick overtakes on the highway, there is more than enough grunt and linear power delivery. The 8-speed torque converter gearbox is also perfectly tuned to idle at 1,500 rpm at triple-digit speeds, making long-distance cruising effortless and comfortable. However, if you want to indulge in some classic BMW fun, set the drive mode to Sport. This will give you an SUV that is eager, with heavier and sharper steering, a quicker gearbox, and tauter suspension.

The 1950cc diesel engine has a maximum output of 194 horsepower at 3,800 revolutions per minute and a maximum torque of 400 Nm between 1,600 and 2,800. For effective engine power delivery to the wheels in both versions, the 9G-TRONIC automatic transmission system is utilized. Jaguar F Pace

Jaguar F Pace

The old Jaguar saying goes, “Grace, pace, and space,” isn’t that right? The good news is that most modern Jags meet that requirement. They are alluring to look at, captivating to drive, and especially spacious inside, as is the case with the F-Pace.

It is therefore fortunate that the facelift makes no changes to the basic formula rather than simply enhancing it with a few unnecessary additions. The previous “single J-blade DRL” signature has changed into a “double J-blade,” and the headlamps are now sleeker, high-definition adaptive LED units (ironically, BMW now does something similar with its headlamps). There are large air intakes to feed the radiators down in the bumpers, and the grille is bigger and covered in dark metallic studs.

Jaguar F - Pace Exterior

With two ‘bumps’ instead of one, mirroring the Double Js up front, the rear taillamps have evolved into a beautifully thin and minimalist interpretation of the rounded elements of old. A new bumper that has only a neat blacked-out insert that resembles a diffuser instead of any visible exhaust outlets further streamlines the rear. The twin-five-spoke 19-inch design is nice, but it’s the same one you got with the 3.0 V6 diesel version back in 2016. This is a slight disappointment because the wheel size and design haven’t changed at all.

Jaguar F Pace – Cabin and Practicality

Jaguar F Pace - Cabin and Practicality

The majority of the steering wheel, the control stalks, and the enormous shift paddles behind it are all made of brushed aluminium, as are the AC vent surrounds, window switches (which are no longer located on top of the door sills), the centre console, speaker grilles, seat memory buttons, and the AC controls. In fact, Jaguar has emptied the parts bin from Range Rover, and that’s a good thing. Unfortunately, this has led to an increase in touch-sensitive switches that are unnecessarily difficult to operate, such as the mirror, steering, and AC controls, to name a few. A small, stubby selector with stitching meant to resemble the seam of a cricket ball has replaced the old rotary gear selector.

It has significantly higher quality than the previous model on almost every surface and touch point, to the point where it feels like a new-generation model inside. Speaking of which, the seats are now slightly more comfortable and offer lumbar support adjustment, which was previously lacking. Even the leather used in the upholstery feels softer and richer. If you look closely, you can still see remnants of the previous F-Pace, such as the simple-looking glovebox release and the awkward-to-reach power recline switch for the backseat, which is straight out of a Ford from the 1990s.

Jaguar F Pace - Safety Equipment

Independent Euro NCAP safety tests were conducted on the Jaguar F-Pace, which received all five stars and a remarkable 93% rating for protecting adult occupants. Jaguar equips all examples with emergency braking assistance and autonomous emergency braking, which assist you in stopping quickly or, if it notices you haven’t responded, will brake on your behalf if an object veers into your path. This comes on top of all the mandatory safety features like stability control and anti-lock brakes.

Jaguar F Pace – Engine and Gearbox

Jaguar F Pace - Engine and Gearbox

The F-Pace with a 2.0-liter turbo-petrol or turbo-diesel engine. The petrol engine is the same 250 horsepower, 365 Nm unit as before, but the diesel engine has been upgraded to 200 horsepower, 430 Nm, and mild hybrid technology. It is mated to ZF’s 8-speed torque converter automatic, but there seems to have been some improvement to its responses, shift speed and smoothness. Where previously JLR’s applications of this gearbox felt inferior to other brands that use it, now it appears to have been tweaked to work much better.

The engine remains rev-happy and not overtly turbocharged in its feel, which gels nicely with the F-Pace’s fun-to-drive nature.

Instead of using an IC engine platform that has been modified for electrification, the EQS is the first Mercedes to be constructed on a custom EV architecture. The EQS was built from the ground up, eschewing many century-old customs and using the most up-to-date manufacturing techniques in a modern factory that is free of the constraints of an IC engine. A large vehicle, the EQS is 5,216mm long, 1,926mm wide, and 1,512mm tall. Similar to the S-class, it has a staggeringly long 3,210mm wheelbase, but it has much shorter overhangs. The curved roof, which arches from the front fender to the tailgate, is the centrepiece of the rounded and smooth design. Another custom broken by the EQS is the trunk lid, which is replaced by a fastback that pivots upward in the style of a hatchback to reveal a huge 610-liter boot. This is a stark contrast to the tiny trunks we’ve always bemoaned in Merc sedans.

Because of the EQS’s exceptionally low coefficient of drag (Cd), which is the lowest of any series-produced car at 0.20, Mercedes claims that sealing off the bonnet makes the vehicle more aerodynamically efficient. Interestingly, the flush door handles—the only components shared with the S-class—reduce drag as well. In contrast, the EQS makes it clear in every other way that it is an entirely new EV with S-class levels of luxury rather than an electrified S-class. Where they are hidden, beneath the floor, is where the biggest differences can be found.

One electric motor can drive the rear axles of the EQS’s electric-only EVA platform, or two electric motors can drive all four wheels. The 107.8kWh battery pack, the largest in a production EV to date, which is housed in a crash-proof compartment within the enormous wheelbase, is the centre of attention. The EQS will have an amazing range thanks to its largest battery capacity ever. The official range, according to a Mercedes-Benz India source, “will be in excess of 750km,” which, in actual driving conditions, equates to an amazing 550-650km and will more than suffice to put an end to range anxiety.

Mercedes-Benz EQS – Cabin and Practicality

Mercedes-Benz EQS - Cabin and Practicality

While the interior is straight out of Star Trek, the exterior is revolutionary. The cabin of the EQS, which resembles a spaceship, is crammed with cutting-edge technology and digital excess. The much-lauded 56-inch “Hyperscreen,” which spans the dashboard from pillar to pillar, is the star. When you start using it, you realise that it actually consists of three screens connected by a continuous glass panel. The primary infotainment system in the centre has a rather sizable 17.7-inch touchscreen display, while the driver and front passenger each get a 12.3-inch screen. The driver’s screen is comparable to the screens in other Mercedes-Benz vehicles equipped with the MBUX system, which provides all the information you require in addition to a helpful and clear heads-up display.

The updated navigation system must be mentioned because it combines a real-time video of the road ahead with directions superimposed on the image. Particularly when navigating through challenging motorway interchanges, it performs flawlessly. In addition to viewing the map and selecting music, the front passenger can interact with a lot of features on their screen. You can play a variety of games included in the package, including the highly addictive Tetris, for hours on end. However, the driver won’t be able to see your results or know what you’re up to because many functions’ displays cannot be seen from the driver’s seat in order to prevent distraction. Tech for you, then!

As far as touchscreens go, the main screen is quite user-friendly and functions similarly to those in the new S-class and C-class. While the air conditioning icons are always visible at the bottom of the screen for easy access, the menus you swipe through are all logically laid out. There aren’t any traditional buttons, and the few “hard” ones for the drive modes, volume control, and hazard lights are touch sensitive. Worse are the touch-sensitive controls on the steering wheel that come with every new generation of Mercedes and require a bothersome frisk to activate.

Audi Q7

Audi Q7

Over the last two years, there has been a lot of change in the Audi India lineup, with many well-known models retiring due to the switch to BS6 standards only to later make a comeback in a “new and improved” form. This particular Q7 is the newest addition to the Audi lineup.

Audi Q7 is available in 6 colors – Carrara White, Mythos Black, Navarra Blue, Samurai Grey, Floret Silver, Barrique Brown.

Audi Q7 – Exterior

Audi Q7 - Exterior

The second-generation Audi Q7 is a significant aesthetic change from the first, bulky Q7. It is clean-cut and athletic. This Gen 2 model’s facelift has restored some of the original Q7’s visual drama.

Undoubtedly, the bigger, more obtrusive grille is the attention-getter up front. The grille, which is heavily ornamented with vertical slats and is outlined in chrome, is flashy and therefore divisive, but it also gives the Q7 a stronger presence by itself. The larger, sharper-cut headlamps with a new LED light signature and a flashy light show when locking and unlocking are another new addition. The remodelled front end is finished off by a new bumper with bigger air dams.

Audi Q7 - Exterior

The basic high-riding waggon shape of the 5-meter-long Q7 has not changed, and the side-to-side changes in style are also minimal. Although you can jazz up your Q7 with optional accessories like the foot board and stylized sills that you see on our test car, we think that more attractive wheels should be at the top of your list because the factory-installed 19-inch rims are just too plain-looking.

The Q7 has slimmer full LED taillamps in the back that are surrounded by a flatter tailgate. New additions include a full width chrome strip at the top and another one at the bottom of the redesigned bumper.

Audi Q7 – Cabin and Practicality

Audi Q7 - Cabin and Practicality

Driving a 2022 Q7, there isn’t much to distinguish it from a 2015 model. To bring the interior of the Q7 in line with the newest high-end Audis, Audi went the extra mile to completely redesign the dashboard with the twin touchscreen setup. For frequently used features, there is a 10.1-inch touchscreen, and the climate control system has an 8.6-inch touchscreen further down. Even though the screens are seamlessly integrated, easy to use, and even have haptic feedback, the lower one does require you to briefly take your eyes off the road to make even a small adjustment.

The third screen is where the digital dials are located. The Q7’s newest “Virtual Cockpit” offers sharper graphics and the same functionality. A full-screen map is one of the layouts you can switch between, but it would have been even nicer if it could also show Google Maps navigation.

The three screens, combined with the tastefully done ambient lighting (there are 30 different color options), give the cabin a very modern appearance. The cabin quality is also excellent. It feels luxurious and plush everywhere.

The view outside and the comfort of the driver’s seats will appeal to them, thanks in part to the low dash sill. Additionally well-served are those in the middle rows. The second row seats have plenty of legroom, are well-cushioned, and can be adjusted for the angle of the backrest when in the backwards position. Inside, the room feels airy thanks to the large windows and panoramic sunroof.

Audi Q7 – Engine and Gearbox

Audi Q7 - Engine and Gearbox

That charming 3.0-litre V6 diesel engine is gone for good. However, Audi has a fine replacement in the 3.0-litre, turbo-petrol V6 that makes 340hp and 500Nm.

The engine is of the powerful and silent variety, running quietly under typical city conditions while constantly prepared to provide more power for a quick overtake. Although it doesn’t quite have the same amount of reserve power as the old V6 diesel engine, the engine feels adaptable and can easily change its personality if you need it to. When you apply more force, the engine bay emits a muted snarl, and acceleration is swift throughout the rev range. For such a large SUV, Audi’s claimed 0-100kph time of 5.9 seconds is impressive. The Q7’s relaxed cruising manner and apparent ease of going long distances make it more relevant for typical buyers. The 8-speed gearbox smoothly changes the ratios as well.

As before, it’s worth mentioning the ingenious sound-deadening that effectively mutes outside noises. The Q7 doesn’t feel particularly entertaining to drive, as it did before, but rather feels like a simple big SUV to operate. Although the Q7 has modes for the steering, engine, gearbox, and other things, you’d find that these settings give the Q7 its most comfortable feel. Good grip levels and neat turning are also present.
