Kawasaki is a Japanese motorcycle and heavy industrial equipment manufacturer and it has its presence worldwide with half a dozen manufacturing and assembly plants. Let’s start this list with the most affordable bike from the house of Kawasaki in India. Kawasaki W175 is the light-weight classic bike which has been launched at a price from Rs 1.47 lakh ex-showroom, New Delhi. There are two colour variants – One is Black and other one is Red.

It is a classic bike with no direct competition whatsoever as all other classic bikes comes with much higher engine capacity and power output. W175 is a retro style motorcycle with minimum modern features as it only gets a single pod digital-analogue instrument cluster offering limited information.

Coming to the engine, W175 is powered by a 177cc, air-cooled, single-cylinder engine that is tuned to make 12.8 bhp of max power at 7500 rpm and 13.2 Nm torque at 6000 rpm. The power and torque numbers lies in the segment of 150cc motorcycles. A 5-speed gearbox is attached to the engine.

With low power and torque numbers, W175 can provide a mileage of up to 45 kmpl in average riding conditions. In the city rides, the mileage could be lower and on the highways, one can clock better mileage numbers. A 12-litre fuel tank can provide a riding range of over 450 km in a single tankful.

Kawasaki Ninja 300

The first bike on this list is the Kawasaki Ninja 300 which is also the most affordable Kawasaki one can buy today. Priced at just Rs 3.40 lakh ex-showroom, makes it the cheapest proper sports bike to go with. The BS6 version of the Ninja 300 comes with an increment in price over the BS4 version which is still affordable and reasonable when looking around in the market where the price of bikes has been increased multiple times in last seven to eight months.

The style on the bike remains the same as it was since it was first introduced in the country back in 2014. Every motorcycle enthusiast expected the Japanese company to bring the latest ZX design language which is more aggressive and sportier. The bike continues to use dual swept headlight cluster with halogen bulbs and the absence of LED headlight misses a bit.

Kawasaki Ninja 300

Kawasaki Ninja 300 is now fitted with a BS6 complaint liquid-cooled, 4-stroke, 296cc, parallel-twin engine. The engine is fuelled by an electronic fuel injection system with dual throttle valve similar to the ZX 10R superbike. This motor breathes through an 8-valve DOHC head for higher volumetric efficiency. Max power of 38.88 bhp is available at 11,000 rpm and 26.1 Nm torque comes up at 10,000 rpm. The cleaner emission has taken a toll on the torque figure which is down by 0.9 Nm when compared to the BS4 version. Reduction duties are handled by a 6-speed gearbox paired to the engine via an assist and slipper clutch.

Somehow, the weight of the Ninja 300 is increased to 179 kg from 174 kg while making it complaint to the latest emission norms. The power to weight ratio and the torque to weight ratio are suffered due to this. Thus, the acceleration from 0 to 100 kmph is expected to be around 7 seconds and the top speed remains the same at 170 kmph.

There is a 17-litre fuel tank capacity which when used on the highways at a stretch can let you cover anywhere over 400 km in a single tankful. Well, it is almost great to have this kind of range for long tours as you won’t be queuing up on fuel stations more frequently.

The new BS6 Ninja 300 continues to employ same analogue-digital instrument cluster that has a large central tachometer and an LCD display for rest of the details like speed, odometer, trip meters and fuel gauge. While rest of the biker community was expecting a design overhaul something similar to the Ninja 400 and an updated instrument cluster to a digital one that we have seen on the bigger Kawasaki motorcycles. However, nothing beats the essence of a sweeping analogue tachometer when you rip the throttle wide open.

Kawasaki Ninja 300

Ninja 300 is built around a race-inspired diamond type frame that offers sufficient rigidity for the engine power and performance at hand. It is suspended via a pair of hydraulic telescopic forks at the front and a bottom link Uni-Trak monoshock suspension with gar reservoir and 5-step preload adjustment. It offers a balanced ride and handling to the bike making it easy to take around the corners and solid stability on the highway rides.

The Anchor on the Ninja 300 is dropped by 290 mm front disc gripped by a two-piston calliper at the front and a 220 mm disc brake unit with single piston calliper at the rear. Kawasaki Ninja 400

Here we have a performance machine at our disposal, the Kawasaki Ninja 400. It is a power packed machine that offers a lot of performance but at a price. It is priced at Rs 4.99 lakh ex-showroom, New Delhi which makes it over Rs 1.8 lakh more expensive than its nearest rival, the KTM RC 390. The difference in price can be understood with the fact that Kawasaki Ninja 400 is a CKD product while the RC 390 is manufactured in India.

Ninja 400 carries its design from the Ninja ZX10R that makes it look aggressive and hyper sporty. It is made available in two colours options – Green and Black.

Powering the Ninja 400 is a 399cc, liquid-cooled, parallel-twin, 8-valve DOHC engine. This motor develops 44.7 bhp of power at 10,000 rpm and 37 Nm torque at 8000 rpm. It is a high revving engine and makes power high up in the rev range. A 6-speed gearbox is attached to the engine via an assist and slipper clutch.

In terms of performance, Kawasaki Ninja 400 does 0 to 100 in less than 6 seconds and goes up to a top speed of 185 kmph.

Kawasaki Vulcan S

The next bike we have here is the Kawasaki Vulcan S. It is a sporty cruiser for urban riding as decided by its sporty and high-revving engine. The bike is made for short weekend getaways rather than the long hauls that people usually do on cruisers.

Priced at Rs 6.40 lakh ex-showroom New Delhi, the bike is priced a relatively on the higher side than what it offers. It is available only in one colour shade – Metallic Flat Raw Graystone and has orange lines.

Kawasaki Vulcan S

It is a low-slung cruiser with a sporty heart and classic cruiser headlight cluster with halogen lamp. It features a 705 mm high scooped seat offering utmost comfort to the rider. The Vulcan S comes with a well sized pillion seat as well which is well-padded for long riding hours without exhaustion. With raised handlebar position, the bike feels right at home while riding and it is easier to handle as the front ends is light in weight even with front 18-inch wheel.

Propelling forward the Kawasaki Vulcan S is a four-stroke, liquid-cooled, 649cc, parallel twin, engine fed by a multi-port fuel injection system and breathes via an 8-valve head. Vulcan S with a kerb weight of 235 kg, the Vulcan is able to extract a mileage of up to 23 kmpl on the highways. Back in the city, nothing more than 19-20 kmpl is possible. Therefore, with a 14-litre tank capacity, the Vulcan S can cover around 300 km in a single tankful. This range is on the lower side and thus not good for long hauls.

When you settle on the comfortable seat, you will be greeted by a semi-digital instrument cluster beautiful analogue tachometer and an LCD display for rest of the information. For the purists, this meter console is more than sufficient for an urban cruiser and TFT screens will be an over-done feature on this particular motorcycle. However, there are tech-savvy riders who would love to have the TFT console with Bluetooth connectivity for more connected feature set.

Kawasaki Z650

Coming to the first middle-weight naked streetfighter motorcycle form the house of Kawasaki. The Z650 is the first proper premium middle-weight naked machine one can buy from the Japanese giant. The 2021 model features better overall Sugomi design language and aggressive stance.

With the price update, the Kawasaki Z650 is now priced at Rs 6.43 lakh ex-showroom, New Delhi. It is present in Metallic Black paint scheme. Kawasaki’s signature lime green colour is present on the both alloy wheels that enhances the visual appeal by many folds. The sharper and bigger headlight cowl with full LED clusters for superior illumination of road in the night time.

Kawasaki Z650

Z650 is powered by a four-stroke, parallel twin, 649cc, liquid-cooled engine. It now has dual throttle valves for higher throttle precision with multi-port fuel injection and 8-valve DOHC head. This mill churns out 66.4 bhp at 8000 rpm and 64 Nm twisting force at 6700 rpm. A wet multi-plate clutch sends power to the 6-speed gearbox which delivers it to the rear wheel.

Expect the Z650 to hit 0 to 100 kmph in 4.5 seconds with a top speed rated to be over 200 kmph for it has some good amount of power on tap. If you plan to take out of the highways, you won’t be wrong as the bike has comfortable upright riding posture but no protection against the high-speed wind-blast. A cruising speed of 100 kmph can still be maintained for prolonged durations.

The rider holds on to raised and perfectly position bar-tyre handlebar which is wide enough for comfortable and road-commanding posture. It comes with a spacious seat for the rider with proper padding that is neither too soft nor too hard making it just right for daily rides and for the long rides as well.

With a kerb weight of just 191 kg, the Z650 is able to deliver up to 24 kmpl of fuel economy on the highway rides. Up next, we have the Kawasaki Ninja 650 which is the most popular middle-weight sports tourer India has ever received. One can say that it is a fully faired Z 650 with the styling of the new generation of ZX racing machines.

The Ninja 650 is a sports tourer motorcycle and offers a riding posture which is comfortable to take on the long roads. It features raised handlebars which are perfectly set at a distance from the rider which makes the rider to lean forward a little and take away the pressure from the spine. However, the pressure on the wrist and the shoulders are not too high that would make it uncomfortable to ride. At the heart of the Ninja 650, you get to see similar 649cc, parallel-twin, liquid-cooled, 8-valve DOHC engine working under the tank. This mill with dual throttle valves belts out 66.4 bhp of max power at 8000 rpm and 64 Nm of torque at 6700 rpm. These numbers are similar to that of the naked Z 650 but the bike features better aerodynamics than its naked sibling offering better comfort on the saddle.

On the performance front, the Ninja 650 gets a 6-speed cog-box that aids in pushing the bike to 100 kmph from zero in just 4.5 seconds and continues to push the 196 kg machine to a top speed of 220 kmph. Out on the highways, you can easily cruise at 100-120 kmph without issues as the engine is butter smooth and offers excellent rideability.

The fuel tank capacity of 15 litres is adequate but could have been bigger for better tank range. With an average fuel efficiency of around 24 kmpl on the highway runs, expect the bike to munch out 350 km or so before needing a top-up.

There is a pair of telescopic forks at the front and horizontal monoshock suspension at the rear with preload adjustment. The wheel travel is 125 mm at the front and 130 mm at the rear which is sufficient for highway rides. Kawasaki W800

Kawasaki W800 derives its propulsion force from a four-stroke, air-cooled, parallel-twin, 773cc engine that is fed by multi-port fuel injection system. To keep the old-world charm, the W800 features chrome garnished bevel gear mechanism for the valve train that is clearly visible on the right side on the engine. This powerplant is able to produce 50.2 bhp of power at 6500 rpm and 62.9 Nm of torque at 4800 rpm. A 5-speed gearbox connected via a slipper and assist clutch channels the torque to the rear wheel.

To keep the riding range on the higher side, the company has plonked in a large 21-litre fuel tank. Since it is a classic bike with standard rev range, you can expect to get an average mileage of about 21-22 kmpl on the highway rides. Hence, a range of over 400 km is inevitable on the W800.

Kawasaki Versys 650 is the first adventure tourer motorcycle from the house of the Japanese brand. It is a road-biased touring bike offering comfortable ride experience. It is now available at a price of Rs 7.36 lakh ex-showroom, New Delhi.

Versys 650 features half-fairing at the front with a taller windshield visor. Both these things are designed to deflect the wind-blast at high-speed that reduces helmet buffeting and keeps the rider at calm on the long highway hauls. The headlight is same halogen unit which could have been a new LED system for better illumination at night time. Kawasaki has one more Z series bike for the enthusiasts. The Z H2 is the first naked brawler to have a supercharger involved in developing for nearly 200 horses of raw power. At last, we have the monster of a machine called the Kawasaki Ninja H2R. It is a hyperbike with a supercharged engine that delivers power over 300 horse power. This is not a road-legal bike and can be used only on the racing circuits for recreational and racing purpose. The price of the Kawasaki Ninja H2R is intriguing at 79.90 lakh ex-showroom, New Delhi and is made able for only those who want to use the world’s first supercharged hyperbike for circuit racing purpose.

Kawasaki Ninja H2R is the only production motorcycle to offer a maximum power of over 300 bhp and it is made possible by the presence of a specially designed supercharger. As per the company claims, the supercharger of the H2R was developed with collaboration with an aviation company which specialised in the design and development of turbine engines.

In the design front, the H2R is minimal with a front fairing designed to cut through the air when shooting at over 300 kmph. It is nowhere near to other litre-class super-bikes when it comes to design and the wheelbase of 1450 mm is long enough for superb high-speed stability. There are CFRP carbon fibre wings installed on the upper cowl on the fairing that offers incredible down-force to keep the front-end on the road.

Coming to the power train on the Kawasaki Ninja H2R, the company has plonked a liquid-cooled, four-stroke, in-line four-cylinder engine displacing 998cc. This powerplant breathes through a 16-valve DOHC head which is further supplied pressurised air from a compact supercharger. The supercharge used ram air-intake placed on the left side of the bike and runs from the front cowling to the supercharger housing at the lower end near the engine bay.

At 140,000 rpm, the engine is able to develop a maximum power of 305.75 bhp which increases to around 322 bhp with ram air-intake is activated at higher speeds During higher speeds, the ram air-intake module that has been specifically designed to compress the incoming air and the send it further down the line to compress further by the supercharger. Peak torque is 165 Nm that comes up at 12,500 rpm.

All this power is sent to the rear wheel via a 6-speed constant mesh transmission with dog-ring shifters. You also get a hydraulic clutch with back torque limiter for safer downshifting. For a track machine, there is no need of discussing as it is not made for commuting or highway riding. From a 17-litre fuel tank, you can expect 150-200 km of riding range which translates into countless laps around your favourite circuit.
