Recently, Classic Legends launched their latest offering in the form of Jawa 42 Bobber. From far you can easily make out the difference between the Perak and the 42 Bobber due to the styling changes. If you look at the bike from close, you will see that the 42 Bobber’s front end is based on the design of the Yezdi Roadster while the rear continues to use the elements of the Jawa Perak.

Similar to that of the Perak, the height adjustable single seat is connected to the main frame of the bike above the monoshock. At 750 mm, the seat is good for short riders. The engine is also derived from the Yezdi series of bikes with larger throttle bodies for high performance.

The liquid-cooled, single-cylinder, 4-valve unit delivers a maximum power of 30.2 bhp and peak torque of 32.74 Nm. The engine is paired to a 6-speed gearbox same as seen on the other Jawa and Yezdi bikes.

This particular bike offers great performance for a classic bobber with 0-100 kmph time of around 9 seconds and a top speed in the range of 140 kmph. Just like the Jawa Perak, 42 Bobber comes fitted with a rear monoshock suspension while the front-end has a regular telescopic fork.

The latest Honda bike in India is none other than CB300F. It is a premium streetfighter bike from the house of Honda. Honda CB300F is available at a price tag of Rs 2.26 lakh ex-showroom for the Deluxe variant and Rs 2.29 lakh for Deluxe Pro variant. The bike retails only through premium Bigwing dealerships of Honda which are around 100 at present.

Benelli 502C

Now we have the Benelli 502C. It is a low-slung power cruiser from the house of Benelli and its design is inspired from Ducati Diavel. There are two colour options available on the Benelli power cruiser – matte black and Purple. The Purple colour offers the road presence this bike attracts from the other road users. It is a great middle weight motorcycle for short riders as its seat height is 750 mm.

Speaking about the design, the bike has minimalistic design with most of the paint area taken up by the humongous fuel tank. The handlebars are laid back and the rider comfortably grips them with completely upright riding posture which allows for long distance touring without frequent stops in between due to exhaustion. You get to see an exposed blacked-out trellis frame running under the fuel tank which is commanding look. Rider seat is a scooped one with ribs for providing a comfortable padding. The pillion seat is there but only large enough for little kids at max.

Benelli 502C

The rear section of the bike is minimal and features a separate registration plate holder on the tyre hugger. You get LED tail-light and LED turn indicators with strips of LEDs for a unique look. The headlight cluster is full LED unit and houses LED DRLs for greater appeal.

The powertrain of the Benelli 502C comprised of a parallel-twin, 500cc, liquid-cooled, fuel-injected, four-stroke, 8-valve DOHC engine. This engine generates max power of 46.8 bhp at 8500 rpm and 46 Nm twisting force at 6000 rpm. It gets a 6-speed transmission that easily handles the transmission duties.

In terms of performance, the 0-60 kmph is achieved in 2.8 second and 0 to 100 kmph timing is set at 6.4 seconds. The top speed of the 502C is pegged at 160 kmph which is adequate for the power the engine makes. If you are thinking about cruising on the highways, the perfect cruising speed is in the range of 80 to 100 kmph which also returns commendable fuel efficiency.

The large fuel tank not only looks big, it has the volume to hold 21 litres of fuel at once and when combined with an average highway mileage of 25 kmpl, you can cover up to 525 km with just one tankful of petrol. However, theoretically speaking, the mileage can even go up to 30 kmpl if the rider is conscious about the throttle and the bike speed. This way, there is a possibility that the 502C can run for 600 km with 21 litres of petrol that is like full day worth of riding.

On the dashboard, you get to see a full colour TFT instrument cluster but it only offers the basic range of data including speed, total distance covered, trip meters, fuel gauge and so on. This console misses out on the features like average and instant fuel consumption, distance to empty and Bluetooth connectivity feature.

On the suspension segment, the bike is hung on USD forks at the front and monoshock suspension at the rear which is adjustable for pre-load. This setup is tuned towards a stiffer side and therefore, the bike is highly stable around the corners because of minimum change in bike’s geometry. This leads to unsettling and uncomfortable rides over the broken patches of roads and the rider will have to slow down the bike to avoid the jolts of the roads. The wheelbase is gigantic at 1600 mm taking it to the Diavel’s segment and might cause problems while manoeuvring on the tight city roads and traffic-clad roads.

With a kerb weight of 235 kg, Benelli 502C seriously needed a powerful braking hardware and it gets right what it needs in the form of twin 320 mm front disc brakes and a 260 mm rear disc brake unit. A dual-channel ABS is available for providing safety net to the rider.

Kawasaki Vulcan S

Let’s move up in the price range and we are welcomed by Kawasaki Vulcan S cruiser motorcycle. This bike has a seat height of 705 mm which is great for any type of rider. Even a rider under 5’2” can also ride the bike. The reason for such as low seat height is the high kerb weight of 235 kg.

For a cruiser bike, the fuel tank can hold only 14 litres of petrol. That said, the bike returns a fuel economy of just 20 kmpl with a light wrist and thus, you can get a range of 280 km which is too less. You have to frequently refill the tank on longer tours.

The suspension system is taken care of by telescopic forks at the front and an offset monoshock does the job at the rear. Suspension is balanced as it is neither too stiff nor too soft. You will have to slow down over bad roads so that the bike does not unsettle. However, the weight of the bike keeps things under control.
