Benelli is known for its TNT series of street bikes, Leoncino Scrambler range and TRK series of adventure tourer machines. Apart from these, the Italian brand also had a special Imperiale brand to take on the classic motorcycle segment.

Benelli bikes are known for the exhaust roar that they offer. However, the company is yet to launch a 4-cyliner bike in India in the TNT series. Prices of Benelli bikes start from Rs 2.35 lakh to Rs 6.3 lakh. The prices mentioned here are ex-showroom and does not reflect the on-road prices as on-road price includes RTO tax and bike insurance.

Being in the middle-weight segment, Benelli bikes has higher running cost when compared to the bikes of lower segments. With high fuel price, one has to think twice before buying any bike in the middle-weight segment for daily riding purpose.

The company is working on to launch more bikes in India especially in the middle-weight segment where it can give tough competition to the established players from other international brands. Let’s start with the most affordable bike from Benelli.

Benelli Imperiale 400

The first bike in the Benelli’s Indian line-up is the Imperiale 400. It is a classic cruiser based on the International Imperiale brand which caters to the riders who need a pure classic machine to tour on. The Imperiale is here to tackle the monopoly of Royal Enfield Classic 350 series of bikes which are loved by almost every Indian rider.

When it comes to the Royal Enfield Classic 350, there is no possibility of making a bike or creating a brand strong enough to give a hard push to the sales of Royal Enfield. Despite this fact, Benelli decided to place their rook in the form of Imperiale 400. The Imperiale 400 is built around a modern chassis with humongous dimensions to suit to the style of people who will ride this machine.

Benelli Imperiale comes with classic round headlamp with clear glass for modern looks. Resting on a steel tubular frame which keeps the bike’s ride and handling much safer yet in the neutral mark. There is no sportiness in the ride and handling of the Imperiale 400 which helps in keeping it as classy as possible. Powering the Benelli Imperiale 400 is a 4-stroke, 374cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled, fuel-injected engine breathing via a 4-valve head. This mill dishes out a max power of 20.7 bhp at 6000 rpm and 29 Nm of torque at 3500 rpm. The torque spread in the entire rev range is on the higher side making it an easy to ride commuter bike in the city and an effortless cruiser on the highways. It comes with a 5-speed gearbox connected via a wet-multiplate clutch.

At 205 kg, the Imperiale 400 is the heaviest in its segment and also offers greater high-speed stability on the highways. Benelli TRK 251

TRK 251 from the house of Benelli is a 250cc adventure tourer in this list. It is the most affordable Benelli bike on sale in India with a price tag of Rs 2.99 lakh ex-showroom New Delhi. The TRK carries the design language from the higher capacity TRK range of bikes from Benelli.

You can get TRK 251 is three colours – Glossy White, Glossy Grey and Glossy Black. There is a large half-fairing attached at the front end with a beak that helps in reducing the wind-blast on the rider while running at high speeds. Overall stance of the bike is tall however; the seat height is pegged at just 800 mm. This makes it a good bike even for shorter riders. Furthermore, the kerb weight is of just 164 kg makes it lighter than Suzuki V-Strom-SX.

Benelli Leoncino 500

The next bike in the list of Best Benelli bikes in India is Benelli Leoncino 500. It is a sporty naked machine fitted with a powerful yet efficiency 500cc twin-cylinder engine. Benelli TRK 500 weighs in at 235 kg which is on the higher side when comparing to other adventure bikes in the middle-weight segment. With this heft, the TRK 502 can hit 100 kmph in just 7 seconds and the engine can pull the bike to a top speed of 160 kmph or so. Out on the highways, you can ride at 100 kmph all day long without any issue of engine overheating or hand numbing due to vibrations.

For an adventure tourer, it is very important to be fuel efficient especially when it is positioned as an affordable middle-weight tourer. The TRK 502 can return a mileage of up to 28 kmpl on the highways and when coupled to a large 20-litre fuel tank, it can go well over 500 km in a single tankful of petrol. Coming back in the city limits, expect the bike to give no more than 23 or 24 kmpl which is still arguable for a bike of this size and heft.

Unlike the Leoncino, where you get a fully-digital instrument cluster, the TRK only offers a semi-digital meter console with white analogue tachometer and an LCD screen for rest of the information. There is a speedometer, odometer, trip meters, digital clock, fuel gauge, engine temperature gauge among other indicators.

Other components that make it a proper adventure tourer are a high beak, aluminium knuckle protectors, engine guard, frame guard, provision for saddlebags and panniers for carrying extra luggage over long distances. Benelli 502C

Now we have the Benelli 502C. It is a low-slung power cruiser from the house of Benelli and its design is inspired from Ducati Diavel. There are two colour options available on the Benelli power cruiser – matte black and Purple. The Purple colour offers the road presence this bike attracts from the other road users. It is a great middle weight motorcycle for short riders as its seat height is 750 mm.

Speaking about the design, the bike has minimalistic design with most of the paint area taken up by the humongous fuel tank. The handlebars are laid back and the rider comfortably grips them with completely upright riding posture which allows for long distance touring without frequent stops in between due to exhaustion. You get to see an exposed blacked-out trellis frame running under the fuel tank which is commanding look. Rider seat is a scooped one with ribs for providing a comfortable padding. The pillion seat is there but only large enough for little kids at max.

The rear section of the bike is minimal and features a separate registration plate holder on the tyre hugger. You get LED tail-light and LED turn indicators with strips of LEDs for a unique look. On the suspension segment, the bike is hung on USD forks at the front and monoshock suspension at the rear which is adjustable for pre-load. This setup is tuned towards a stiffer side and therefore, the bike is highly stable around the corners because of minimum change in bike’s geometry. The added features on the bike are larger 19-inch front wheel and regular 17-inch wheel at the rear Both the rims are steel spoke units slapped with tubed-type tyres of dual-purpose treads. The dual-purpose rubber offers greater grip in off-the-road terrains, gravel, mud, sand etc. Greater off-road impacts can be easily handled by the spoke rims and protects the rims from breakage under large impact forces.

The exhaust muffler is up-swept keeping it away from the ground and thus ensures safety and proper protection of the exhaust end-can. There is an aluminium bash plate that keeps your engine block safe during off-road stints. The longer-travel off-road ready suspension has increased the ground clearance of the bike to 220 mm which is on-par with the segment.
